  3. We should discuss thisbecause if we know what they go through we can design what we need to plan for them

  4. More youngsters have left home and live around the country and overseas. Growing number of elders living by themselves.

  5. Expecting an older couple to relocate: ☻to new surroundings, new people, & cultures ☻ to new climates and ☻adapting to these conditions at an advanced age is not desirable and very difficult to achieve.

  6. Increase in nuclear families increasing concern among the elders, and the younger people, for the welfare of the elders left behind at home

  7. Domestic help difficult to get, quality of available help not very good

  8. Individual living for just a couple or an individual is becoming more expensive.

  9. Growing crime rate and increased targeting of the elderly living by themselves

  10. Younger people take seniorsfor granted,they tend to ignore themand not just that………

  11. Elder Abuse in India(Helpage India – 2013)Live with Family 83%►Did not report 70%◄ Experience abuse 23%Daughter-in-Law (main perpetrator) 39% Son comes second 38% Disrespect 79% Verbal abuse 76%Neglect 69%Physical beating/slapping 39%

  12. Over all – the problem can become acute when only one partner is living

  13. This problem will only get worse.We now have 100 million elderly in India. This will rise to 323 Million by 2050

  14. Crying need for living independently and to live with DIGNITY

  15. Lack of proper facilities for the care of our elderlythus resulting in……

  16. Depression - For some older people there is a bigger fear than the fear of DYINGit is the fear of continuing to LIVE

  17. Most communities have such facilities except the ChitrapurSaraswat CommunityFrom all this flows the need to set up a living facility for our older membersand therefore we need to set up ……….

  18. A not-for-profit organisation, which will aim to provide☻For our elders, ☻ a Conducive Place to Stay☻ Securely ☻ with Adequate Medical Care, ☻among a Similarly Aged Communityin short, we need to ……

  19. Add life to the years of our elders,Enhance the quality of their lives, And provide them with a life long service. LIVE TOGETHER…..

  23. WHAT SHOULD THE OWNERSHIP MODEL BE????

Ownership Alternatives● Pay only a refundable deposit + a monthly fee per head● Take only a smaller deposit and a larger monthly payment● Outright sale of the unit with right to sell at current market price (with a part payment to the organisation from the sale proceeds) (Paranjape Model) ● Or a combination?

  26. ON SITE MEDICAL● Infirmary● Resident Nurse● Daily visit by Doctor● Hospital within easy reach● Resident health care worker in case of bed ridden patient

  31. ☻Set up a creche, or a play school, so that there is interaction between the residents and little children.(Grandparents miss their grandchildren the most)☻Employ paid staff to run the school.

  33. All this because we don’t want residents to end up in depression…..
