Design Principles: • Mandatory- minimum of 36 SCQF credit points • Majority of credits at the level of the award • At SCQF 5 and 6, 72 SCQF points in total (12 SQA unit credits) • Opportunity for the development of core skills • Relationship to national occupational standards or relevant professional standards

  6. The Qualifications • National Certificate in Travel and Tourism at SCQF level 5 - G8YT 45 • National Certificate in Travel and Tourism at SCQF level 6 - G8YV 46 • Both 12 SQA credits/72 SCQF credit points

  13. Assessment Support Packs • Will be produced for all aforementioned units • Secure site via SQA coordinator • Subject page will advise on availability

  14. New Units – Enhancing skills for employment • Mandatory on both awards • Employer demand • Development of personal skills/attitudes and behaviours • Participate in selection interview • Review and evaluate own progress

  15. Tour Guiding: An Introduction • Looking at types of tour guides • Producing an itinerary for short guided tour (1 day coach tour in Scotland) • Conducting short guided tour (5 minutes)

  16. Resort Representation: An Introduction • Roles and types of resort reps • How airport duties and transfers should be conducted • Present a welcome meeting (5 minutes)

  17. Working as Air Cabin Crew • At SCQF level 5 • Knowledge areas about aviation industry, terminology etc • Communication with passengers – service announcements • Service of meals • At SCQF level 6 • Safety and service procedures • Duty free and tax paid goods service • Trolley merchandising

  18. Airport Ground Operations • At SCQF level 5 • Airline/airport terminology • Personal presentation • Dealing with passenger needs • At SCQF level 6 • Airport check-in procedures • Meeting and boarding flights • Procedures for lost and mishandled baggage

  19. Employability Skills • New mandatory unit • Further applied in study visit unit at level 6 • Reinforced through other practical units e.g. cabin crew/airport ground ops/guiding • New Personal Development course (no course assessment)

  20. Core Skills • Opportunities outlined in detail in arrangements document (section 5.2) • Work Experience and Personal Development units strong carriers • Core skills units in options
