  2. Do Now • Copy HW • Put new AR desk on table • Make sure you did these things: • Tape your “planting a naysayer” exit slip to page 188 (this was about the ACT essay, which you taped to page 170). If you don’t have it or you failed it, write a new one. The question was this: Why is the essay on page 169 an example of this bullet point? • Tape your “pathos” exit slip to page 169. If you don’t have it or you failed it, write a new one. Get the handout (look to the left!). • Tape coherence exit slip to pg. 103. If you didn’t pass, revise yours so it would pass. • Tape coherence packet to page 126

  3. Error Analysis • See if you need a new copy of the final to cut out

  4. Your Essay Prompt Let’s highlight!

  5. How do his characteristics add to events of the story = what is the dramatic purpose of his characteristics? How do his characteristics make the story what it is? How would the plot be different if he didn’t have those characteristics?

  6. In general… • If you answered all three parts well, you got a 4 • If you answered 2 of the 3 parts well, you got a 3 • If you only talked about Jeff’s feelings and emotions, you got a 2 • If your essay was unfinished or had major problems with basic essay organization, you got a 1

  7. Apply • Post-it for EITHER Danielle’s OR Tanisone’s explaining why it got a 4. Quote from rubric (152 of SNB), quote from essay, and explain WHY that quote is an example of of the rubric • Color code YOUR essay where it answers 3 parts of the prompt • Revise your essay so it addresses all 3 parts of prompt • Glue into SNB: “Hiking Trip” (from predictions) pg. 162. Model response to lit essays page 163 • Begin error analysis

  8. Exit Slip • Put portfolio on desk • Staple revision of essay to BACK of final • Glue into SNB: “Hiking Trip” (from predictions) pg. 162. Glue model response to lit essays and post-it to page 163 • Put scantron and final into your SNB. Put SNB into your backpack.

  9. Tape question and post-it to the page for that standard in your Notebook.

  10. To Do… 1. Tape to page 188 the exit slip that explains this: WHY is the essay on page 170 an example of the bullet point on page 188?If you don’t have it or you failed it, write a new one. You should write, “This is an example of this bullet point because…” 2. Tape coherence exit slip to pg. 103. If you didn’t pass, revise yours so it would pass. 3. Tape coherence packet to page 126. This is the packet with the first page where you cut out lots of slips of paper and taped them to a paragraph.
