  2. Youth Participation in the Friendship Centre Movement 1st NAFC Youth Conference at the NAFC’s 14th Annual General Meeting in 1985 Resolution #22 at the NAFC’s 23rd AGM in 1994 states that regularly scheduled meetings with Youth take place in order to further their aims and goals

  3. Aboriginal Youth Council Mission Statement To create positive change for Friendship Centre Youth through inclusion, empowerment and culture by; • increasing communication • increasing training and development opportunities • increasing youth involvement, both internally and externally to the Friendship Centre Movement

  4. Aboriginal Youth Council • Facilitating the development of Youth leaders • Providing awareness on issues facing urban Aboriginal Youth • Encouraging and supporting the on-going spiritual, mental, emotional and physical development of urban Aboriginal youth • Involving youth at all levels of the Friendship Centre Movement, both internally and externally • Preserving and promoting our culture and heritage

  5. Aboriginal Youth Council Structure • Executive Committee comprised of a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer • Regional representatives from the the provinces and territories

  6. Aboriginal Youth Council Conducts quarterly Board meetings and conference calls to discuss issues relating to Aboriginal Youth within the Friendship Centre Movement The AYC defines youth as between the ages of 14-24
