Science • According to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, the definition of science is • "knowledge attained through study or practice," or • "knowledge covering general truths of the operation of general laws, esp. as obtained and tested through scientific method [and] concerned with the physical world." jh

Scientific methodology • Objective observation: Measurement and data (not necessarily using mathematics as a tool) • Evidence • Experiment and/or observation as benchmarks for testing hypotheses • Induction:  reasoning to establish general rules or conclusions drawn from facts or examples • Repetition • Critical analysis • Verification and testing: critical exposure to scrutiny, peer review and assessment jh
