Ed Harrison’s comments from 1100 Willow Dr. walk around: • “A number of lots in low-lying parts of Ridgefield and Briarcliff could not be built upon under current Chapel Hill rules.” • Ridgefield-Briarcliff was built over 40 years ago - before it was under Chapel Hill’s jurisdiction. • This was before FEMA published flood plain maps. • Those low-lying lots would today be zoned RCD (Resource Conservation District).

  4. Ed Harrison is correct. 1100 Willow lies in the 100 year flood zone (dark blue). [Yellow = 500 year flood zone]

  5. Large segment of Ef project also lies in floodplain Segments where new roadsare proposed from the new transportation plan

Requests • Remove these 2 new roads from the transportation plan pending further study • Do not site these roads until local flood studies are completed and their run-off effects can be estimated • Determine the impact of approved development in this flood basin before adding additional impervious cover • Avoid compounding current flooding problems by following Ken Carper’s recommendation to complete flood maps based on upcoming developments • Develop and publish a flood damage reduction plan
