  2. The way I have used digital technology • I used many forms of digital technology while completing my radio drama. • I used MS word in order to type and write out my A4 story which was used to base my script. • I also used word to edit parts of my script. • I used emails in order to communicate with those who were acting in my radio drama so I could find days where we could all get together and produce it. • On the school computers we have shared areas. These were useful because I was able to put up my work where others were able to have a look at what I had done.

  3. The blogs were a very good idea while completing my radio drama as they will be submitted online but also, others were able to listen to my radio drama, comment on what I had done and were able to leave feedback on what I should change, improve on or what they liked about it. • It was also a good idea because I was able to communicate with others in my class and we were able to provide each other with help if needed. • With the Sony ux 60 recorder, Sony 907 mics I had mixed reactions with them. I felt that the recorders did a good job as they managed to pick up the sound very well and produce very good quality sounds. The mics on the other hand were very sensitive and picked up the slightest noise so if I was outside for part of my radio drama, which I was, and it was windy, the mic picked up the wind sound which was heard throughout my radio drama.

  4. Audacity was a relatively good programme as it was simple to use and edit my radio drama as the buttons were easy to see. I liked audacity as I was able to chop and change parts of my radio drama with ease and if I did not like what I had edited I could easily redo the change. • What I did not like about audacity is that it sometimes did not save the parts of my radio drama which I had edited which meant I had to do it again. I think that this was because many people were using the programme which meant both the computers and audacity were slower than normal.

  5. The final programmes I used in the production of my radio drama was paint shop pro and MS Publisher. I used these to produce the advert for my radio drama. • Paint shop pro was good for editing my images as the programme was fast and worked well. I also knew how to use this as I had edited pictures on it when I produced my music magazine in year 12. • MS Publisher was useful as well as I had been using it for a long time and it has good layouts in order to make an advert or poster which helped me to make the look of my advert better and more appealing to the audience.

  6. Conventions of the genre(GENRE, THEME AND MEDIUM) • I made my radio drama a single play without a follow up. A lot of the radio drama’s on BBC Radio 4 are like this as it is a good way to draw the audience in as they do not have to wait to listen to the rest of the story but get the whole thing in one. • I challenged the conventions of theme as I did not make my radio drama a nice simple love story but put in affairs and fights as I went along what people might actually think of these people and how they may be seen in society.

  7. REPRESENTATIONS • Every word in my radio drama matters. The way that it is pronounced will say something about how the characters are feeling. The accents are important in telling where the characters are from as well as their type of background. These are important because the listeners do not get to see images of the people so have to create one themselves based on what they hear. • The way I created this radio drama was based on how footballers were represented in society which are as disrespectful and only caring about themselves, fame and money. On the other hand there are parts of society that respect them but on the whole the media represents the footballers as selfish and rich who love themselves. • Representation of places, the way my radio drama was set in a huge house in surrey with a swimming pool and cinema room. I did this because this is how the footballers are seen to live in societies today.

  8. I felt my planning was successful as those who listened to my radio drama were able to understand the story well and grasp what was going on as well as knowing where the scene was set and what type of people they were by the accents, posh meaning they are upper class or common meaning they come from a middle/ lower class background. Also the American accent helped to show that she was from a different country.

  9. CHOICES AND OUTCOMES IN THE PRODUCTION • The decisions that I made from the first redraft to the final edit was that I decided to put in more sound effects which helped to set the scene of my radio drama and where the characters were at each point of the play. I also decided to cut the swearing as I felt that it was inappropriate for those who were going to listen to my radio drama. I also decided to use narrative devices in my radio drama such as an interior monologue which the wife did to show her anger for her husband and which she used to get her revenge during the match day scene.

  10. The things that I would change or do differently for my radio drama is record it on a less windy day as the mics managed to pick up the sound of the wind very easily which made the sound of the voices a bit screechy at times. • I would also record more of the sounds myself.

  11. Audience and the importance of feedback • From the feedback I have learned that my radio drama was a good one and that those who listened to it enjoyed the play and were able to tell the differences between the characters and where they were from. This is why the accents worked particularly well as there were a range of different types of people in my radio drama. • I felt I was successful in communicating my intentions as the audience could understand the play and could tell what was going on in each scene plus where it was set. • The audience did give the preferred reading of the text.

  12. INSTITUTIONTHE BBC AND RADIO FOUR • My target audience is those who enjoy celebrity gossip or are interested in the way they live. It is for the ages of about 16-25, so teenagers and young adults. I think this suits my radio drama best as it has come from a young mind and also because of the fact that I enjoy these type of things so maybe those my age would enjoy a radio drama on this sort. • There are not very many radio plays like this one so I think this was a good idea as it is something different and may draw in a different type of audience to the BBC.
