  4. Plan for recruitment – five steps in the timeline 1. The admission (the first time at school) 2. During the education (3,5 – 5,5 years) 3. Examination 4. Until two years after examination 5. More than two years after examination ----- What we do depends on when we do it…

  5. The admission • Strong focus at the admission (1/3 of the sources of recruitment) • Direct marketing directed to student one month before school starts • Education of recruiters (”Kick-of” activity, education materials etc…) • Material for recruitment (The Teacher Book, The Teacher DVD, Student Calender) • Information about the benefits of the membership (membership value), to a ”price” of 3 Euro per term. • Information/recruitment stands with staff and materials • Social activities (welcome meetings for students etc…) • ”Give aways”: pens, candy…

  6. During the studies… • Activities for students: lectures, meatings, courses, happenings… • Important to have a proper receivement when students come for practice at schools (by our local representatives) • To be visable at the university • At the time during the studies, we will spread our message and bring the policy to the students, by courses, materials etc…

  7. Examination Direct marketing (a letter with information to students that takes exam + broschure) Tele marketing (Ombudsmen to members) Courses/lectures ”Find Job Right” Courses for newly examined students (labor market) Local activities by our student ombudsmen

  8. The time after examination (3 months) • Education of local representatives • Tele marketing • A letter of how to welcome new coworkers/members • Courses for newly examined • Information materials to new members at the workingplace

  9. Long time after examination • The most important factor: a union that do the job in a proper way • Service to members • To be a security for members • Professional ombudsmen

  10. The organisation • Idealistic work by students for students (20 000 student members) • Professional staff: student ombudsmen with a student coordinator (local + central)

  11. The active students (LR Stud) • 20 000 student members (out of 80 000 members) • 20 local societys (clubs) • Central board with 12 members • Partly free-standing from central LR, with own regulation and budget

  12. The purpose with LR Stud • Recruit new members • To be a tool for students to influence their education and the politics around it • Spread the policy of LR

  13. Student ombudsmen (SO) Is responsible for: • SO have the major responsibility for the local recruitment of student at the admission • Make a plan for the activity program directed to students, together with the active students in the LR Stud. • Have contact with local authorities at the university and the union representatives • Arrange an exam activity at the end of the term • To be among the students at the university • Stay in contact with the central union

The ”elected” members in the municipal organisation • Should be involved in the local recruitment process at the university • Have a responsibility for the courses ”Find Job Right” • Should welcome students at their practice • Shall encourage new coworkers at schools to become members in the union

  15. The central office Placed in Stockholm. A central office working with recruitment, member registration, distribution and information… • Student coordinator • Support local working activist • Support student ombudsmen and the active students
