Your Presenter Today Lee Virtual Instruction Program is a self-selecting, student/parental choice program for kindergarten through grade 12 students whose primary residence is Lee County, Florida. The school was established in 2009 in order to provide students with high quality, full-time instruction in an online environment. LVIP provides part-time and full-time virtual school opportunities for grades 6-12. Additionally, they offer full-time virtual school for grades K-5. This progressive choice program is providing expanded educational services to a wider student community for anywhere, anytime learning via Internet instruction along with traditional teaching materials.  Their goal is for each student to receive quality, flexible, online learning options and to be successful in realizing their full potential through a virtual education experience. What is Social Anxiety Social anxiety is the fear of social situations and the interaction with other people that can automatically bring on feelings of self-consciousness, judgment, evaluation, and inferiority. Put another way, social anxiety is the fear and anxiety of being judged and evaluated negatively by other people, leading to feelings of inadequacy, embarrassment, humiliation, and depression.

  13. Integration Quantify the problem: 33% of LVS students surveyed have some type of social anxiety diagnosed or otherwise indicated. Create a space to provide interventions Online-Elluminate/Collaborate/Connect/Skype/etc. In Person- District Facility/library/public areas

Integration Separate parents and students For Parents: • Present it with a meeting during an event Brief 15-20 minutes coffee break for parents • Utilize activities at events (i.e. bake sale, presentation for parents from vendors, public safety, hospital, etc. THEY WANT A BREAK FROM THEIR KIDS! Follow up, get input, continue to adapt
