  1. Warm-up 9/4 • Teach the Teacher: Who is someone you admire and why? • Review: List as many people that somehow failed, but then succeeded in the end (the video from yesterday).

Letter To yourself: Dear ______, • NO ONE will read it- I just glance over it • Needs to be over half a page • Needs to have Goals • 1 life goal • 1 academic goal for the semester • 1 personal goal for the semester • 3 steps that you have to do this week to accomplish those goals • Other things you could include: • What you thought of the first couple days? • Who is your crush? • Who are going to be friends that will help build you up? • What adults can you go to that you trust for help?

  5. Neuron Parts Dendrites: receive messages from other cells (dendrite=tree in latin, like branches) Cell body: contains the nucleus and is main part of the cell

  7. Learning (or memory) Occurs where neurons connect (through dendrites) The more connections you can make with other brain cells, the better you will remember something

  13. Feelings and Emotions • How you feel about yourself and the content will affect how you learn it • Your feelings and emotions can change!

  14. 28/3 Rule • You have to be exposed to something 28 times during a 3 week period with a full nights sleep in-between.

  19. Love and Belonging Key • Humans need to feel genuinely cared about, respected, supported, and truly accountable

  20. Freedom and Independence • Humans need meaningful choices, decisions, and goals.

  21. Fun and Enjoyment Key • Humans work harder and do well when there is fun and enjoyment

  22. Valued Purpose Key • Humans need to feel that what they are doing is worthwhile.
