First Solar Electrification was done by RC Thane North in 0 2006-07 at Waganpada. By now, over 1200 homes electrified

Most important issue being - capacity building at local level on CKD Assembly,Installation,Commissioning, trouble shooting, maintenance at local level for longterm sustainability
With this in mind a new model "Saur Asha" was evolved where local Tribal Adults from Alumni of Pragati's School for hearing Impaired were inducted and trained for assembly, supply, installation, trouble shooting and maintenanceSolar Energy Initiatives
a. Employment to local / hearing impaired youth
b. Provides " by the tribal for the tribal" support on turn key basis on Assembly, Installation, Warranty / post - with Pragati providing management / co-ordination help.
c. Off late it has started supplying Solar Lanterns on commercial basis and becoming self sufficient without NGO projects
Based on past experience recently, Chirag - placed order for 400 Home lights on Controls & System - who havepassed it on to " Saur Asha" center to be executed before 31st March 2013. This will earn them around Rs 100,000 revenue in single month.Solar Energy Initiatives
