First Solar Electrification was done by RC Thane North in 0 2006-07 at Waganpada. By now, over 1200 homes electrified

Issues like transportation, maintenance & life of equipment came up

Many other organizations also doing the project

Most important issue being - capacity building at local level on CKD Assembly,Installation,Commissioning, trouble shooting, maintenance at local level for longterm sustainability

With this in mind a new model "Saur Asha" was evolved where local Tribal Adults from Alumni of Pragati's School for hearing Impaired were inducted and trained  for assembly, supply, installation, trouble shooting and  maintenance

"Saur Asha" is a multi purpose model which provides-

a. Employment to local / hearing impaired youth

b. Provides " by the tribal for the tribal" support on turn key basis on Assembly, Installation, Warranty / post - with Pragati providing management / co-ordination help.

c. Off late it has started supplying Solar Lanterns on commercial basis and becoming self sufficient without NGO projects

Based on past experience  recently, Chirag - placed order for 400 Home  lights on Controls & System - who havepassed it on to " Saur  Asha" center to be executed before 31st March 2013. This will earn them around Rs 100,000 revenue in single month.
