  1. Winter Fine Arts Night Starring: Mrs. Brewer’s 2nd Grade Class Mrs. Hisle’s 3rd Grade Class Ms. Eaves’ 4th Grade Class Mrs. Burchett’s 5th Grade Class

  2. Mrs. Brewer’s 2nd Grade Class

  3. Mrs. Brewer’s 2nd Grade Class • In 2nd grade, we begin reading music by relating the actual note name to a color with the Boomwhackers! • Scale—notes that are adjacent to each other, both ascending and descending • We play a scale and then a fun song with a scale

  4. Mrs. Brewer’s 2nd Grade Class

  5. Mrs. Hisle’s 3rd Grade Class

  6. Mrs. Hisle’s 3rd Grade Class • Moving on to 3rd grade, students begin to read notes on the treble clef • Lines-Every Good Boy Does Fine • Spaces-FACE • These notes are taped to their keyboards so they know which key is which note and they can begin to transfer the notes they see on the staff to the notes they play

  7. Mrs. Hisle’s 3rd Grade Class • Because I only have 12 keyboards that can be played at one time, the class is split into two groups, first randomly and as we move along, based on their experience and ability.

  8. Mrs. Hisle’s 3rd Grade Class Group #1 • Jumping Frogs • Halloween • On the Swings • Mary’s Lamb

  9. Mrs. Hisle’s 3rd Grade Class Group #2 • Mary’s Lamb • Ducks on the Pond • Piano Practice Sheet • 1 • 2 • Old MacDonald

  10. Ms. Eaves’ 4th Grade Class

  11. Ms. Eaves’ 4th Grade Class Recorder Karate

  12. Recorder Karate • This is a great program that gives students the motivation to learn to play the recorder! • There are a total of 9 levels that students can advance to, starting with the easiest songs and progressing to the hardest. • As each student plays each song individually for me, they get a “karate belt” tied on to their recorder to prove what level they have reached. • For example, the first song is “Hot Cross Buns” which is the white belt…

  13. Recorder Karate • White-Hot Cross Buns • Yellow-Gently Sleep • Orange-Merrily We Roll Alsong • Green-It’s Raining • Purple-Old MacDonald

  14. Ms. Eaves’ 4th Grade Class

  15. Mrs. Burchett’s 5th Grade Class

  16. Mrs. Burchett’s 5th Grade Class • The 5th graders get to learn to play guitars! • First we learn how to hold it and some vocabulary for the parts of the guitar and its music • Then, the first thing we learn to play on the guitar is the chromatic scale…

  17. Mrs. Burchett’s 5th Grade Class • Then we learn a couple of songs • Hot Cross Buns • Mary Had a Little Lamb • And finally, we learn how to play some chords… • Enjoy our grand finale!

  18. The End! • Thank you so much for coming and for allowing us to teach your children about the arts!
