  2. Echinoderms • Echinoderms have a hard endoskeleton covered by a thin, bumpy/spiny skin; they are radially symmetrical, have a mouth, stomach, and intestines • They have no brain, but do have a nerve ring around the mouth.

  3. The water vascular systemallows echinoderms to move, exchange carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2), capture food, and remove wastes. • The water vascular system is a network of water filledcanals connected to many tube feet.

  4. Echinoderms • About 6,000 species of echinoderms exist. • Sea Starshave at least 5 arms arranged around a central point; they reproduce sexually and can regenerate a lost arm.

  5. Echinoderms • Brittle Starscan also regenerate but can move much faster then a sea star.

  6. Echinoderms • Sea Urchinsand Sand Dollarsare disk/globe shaped covered with spines.

  7. Echinoderms • Sea Cucumberhave soft-bodies with a leathery covering.

  8. Echinoderms • Echinoderms help recycle materials and are used in research as possible medical sources. • Echinoderms date back more then 400 million years.
