  2. Taiga Weather • Cool weathers under 50 degrees Fahrenheit, as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Soil • Low in nutrients Plants • Different grasses and trees. (evergreen) Animals • Birds, squirrels, elk, deer, and snowshoe hares. Where? • The highest part of the Earth.

  3. Tundra Weather • Long cold winters under 40 degrees Fahrenheit, as low as 50 degrees Celsius. Soil • Almost permanently frozen but fog keeps it unfrozen. Plants • Mosses, grasses, and woody shrubs. Animals • Grizzly bears, rodents, caribou, musk oxen, and snow owls. Where? • Northern most regions of the Earth.

  4. Desert Weather • Does not have enough rain to support trees. Soil • Dry Plants • Cactus Animals • Collared lizard, kangaroo, rat, and ground squirrels. Where? • Toward the middle latitudes.

  5. Grassland Weather • Moderate rainfall. (50-90cm. per year) Soil • Lots of burrows, soft. Plants • Grass Animals • Bison, gazelle, wild horses, and zebra. Where? • Toward the middle latitudes.

  6. TemperateForest Weather • Wet winters and dry summers. Soil • Soft, wet, and soggy. Plants • Deciduous trees, oak, broadleaf, maple, and breech. Animals • Mice, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, and deer. Where? • Near the equator.

  7. TropicalForest Weather • Mostly rainy and warm. Soil • Wet and soggy. Plants • Trees, ferns, shrubs, and palm trees. Animals • Apes, monkeys, birds, and snakes. Where? • Right along the equator

  8. Freshwater Weather • Cold and warm Soil • Sand at the bottom; wet. Plants • Seaweed Animals • Fish, dolphins, turtles, frogs, and salamanders. Where? • Streams and lakes.

  9. Saltwater Weather • Cold Soil • Sand at the bottom; wet Plants • Seaweed Animals • Fish, dolphins, and squid Where? • Ocean
