  2. Observations Qualitative: The analysis of a substance according its qualities or nature. (Example: Rating the movement of the fish on a scale of 0-5)(Dictionary) Quantitative: Determining the amount or measurement of a substance. (Example: Mass Measurment) (Dictionary) • When placed in a room temperature dish, the fish was motionless. • When placed on the hot plate (setting #2) the fish had a moving head. • When placed on the hot plate (setting #4) the fish curled up entirely. • When placed in the fridge there was a moving head and tail.

  3. Observations (continued) 5. When placed in the freezer the fish curled up onto its side. 6. There were dishes placed on the hot plate, fridge, and freezer a couple of minutes prior to the fish. 7. There was some moisture that developed after the plate was taken from the fridge and freezer. 8. We had to switch out the fish used for the final trial because the heat deformed the fish and it was no longer effective. (Pinkham et al. None)
