Academic year • Two semesters (termin): autumn, höst (ht 14): Sept 01 - Jan 18 spring, vår (vt 15): Jan 19 – June 07 • Each semester divided into two periods, P1 (week 36-43) P2 (week 44-03) P3 (week 04-12) P4 (week 12-23) • Courses usually last one period • ECTS points: 1 Swedish point (hp) = 1 ECTS credit point 1 full semester = 30 credit points

  12. Courses • You do not need to register ‘at the University’ (done) • List of physics courses www.physics.uu.se/en/page/courses • You must register for each course you want to take!  If you want to take a course outside your learning agreement first contact Rabab. Registration for a course takes 1-2 weeks. • You must also register for the exam! www.physics.uu.se/en/page/exams • Grades given according to both Swedish and ECTS grading systems.

  13. Laboratory work • There are no independent laboratory courses • Typical structure of a course: lectures, problem sessions, and laboratory work (föreläsningar, lektioner, laborationer) • Labs are part of a course. You will not get the grade/credits for a course if you do not finish the lab work. • Laboratory space is restricted so do not skip your allocated time/date. If you cannot attend, talk to the teacher well in advance.

  14. Timetables • On the department home pagewww.physics.uu.se under Education/Undergraduate you find information about programs, courses, exams, and schedules. • The schedules of individual courses are listed under http:// schema.uu.se and from there Search reservations/Current timetables

  15. Changes to learning agreement • Changes can be made to the learning agreement • For us (UU) there is no problem (if places are available) • Check with your home coordinator if he/she accepts the changes • Carla must sign the corrected agreement before you leave; wait until the end, so all changes are in

  16. Projects • Some divisions offer ‘physics projects’ that give ECTS points. • Here you are on your own: talk to the group which offers the project and find out what the conditions are. • Also, projects must be registered. Contact Rabab. A special form is used. It must be signed by the supervisor.

  17. What next • Enjoy your stay…. • At the end of your stay: be aware of what your university requires from us (certificates, signed forms…). • UU does not require anything from you at the end of your studies • We shall send you a ‘transcript of records’ to your home address • This can take some time after you leave, depending on how long time is needed to register the final results. Check https://www.studentportalen.uu.se regularly. At the end of stay check that your results are properly recorded.
