  1. Prepositions Identifying prepositions in a vignette on American quilting.

  2. Directions: Number your paper one to seven. Write down the preposition in each sentence. Remember, prepositions formed by more than one word are compound prepositions. Ex: according to, in place of, because of, and instead of. • 1. A quilt is simply a cover for a bed. • 2. But, to many women, it has a deeper significance. • 3. In colonial America, women often sewed and assembled quilts together. • 4. These quilting parties were a chance for much-needed socialization. • 5. Each piece reminded the quilter of a loved one. • 6. Today, quilts have regained much of the popularity they had years ago. • 7. By appreciating quilts, people today can touch the past.
