  2. Ancient Egyptian Gods Anubis, Ra, and Osiris

  3. Family The family tree of the gods started with Horus. Horus had two sons, Shu and Tefnut. Shu had a son named Geb, and Tefnut had a daughter named Nut. Geb and Nut had four children Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys. Osiris and Isis gave birth to Ra, and Nephthys gave birth to Anubis.

  5. Description • Also known as Anpu • Ancient Egyptian god of the dead and embalming • Jackal headed god • Guides and protects the dead on their way to the Underworld Anubis or Anpu

  6. Birth of Anubis One day Nephthys gave birth to a child named Anpu or Anubis. In some Legends his father was Seth, but in some his was the son of Ra, The god of the sun. Nephthys

  7. Becoming A God He became the god of the dead due to having the head of a Jackal. Jackals are always seen prowling around the tombs. Jackal

  8. Job Of A God His job as the god of the dead with the Eye of Horus, he leads and protects the dead on their way to Osiris, The god of the Underworld and the first Pharaoh of who ruled Egypt Osiris

  9. Embalming Anubis was also in charge of Embalming, he was the one who mummified Osiris when he was killed by his brother Seth, which said to be Anubis’ father. Mummification

  10. Judgment Day at Egypt Another job of Anubis was to test whether the Pharaoh lived a long life of being truthful by weighing his heart with a feather of an Ostrich. If the heart weighs equally to the feather, then the Pharaoh lived a long life of being truthful.

  13. Origin Ra was believed that he was the son of Osiris the god of the underworld and Isis the wife of Osiris. Ra was worshiped when Queen Cleopatra was ruling Egypt and influenced people of Egypt to worship him Isis

  14. Egyptian Beliefs • Egyptians believed that Ra was swallowed by the Moon Goddess Nut, and was reborn every morning. • Egyptians also believed that he traveled through the underworld at night. • They believed that the sun itself was taken out of his eye or his body. Nut

Egyptian Beliefs Part 2 • In the uderworld, Ra appeared as a man with the head of a ram. • The Ram headed god was actually Khnum who was the “Moulder” of the gods • Egyptians also believed that he created everything • He was also believed that he was an underworld god during the night when the sun is not out Khnum

  17. Description • First Pharaoh who ever ruled Egypt • God of the Underworld, Resurrection, and Fertility • Brother of Seth, Nephthys, and Isis, • He wears a white cone shaped headdress with feathers Osiris’ Statue

  18. Legend of Osiris Osiris and his wife/sister Isis , ruled the land of Egypt. His brother, Seth was jealous of him so planned to kill him. Seth made this tomb that perfectly fit Osiris. Seth made Osiris go inside the tomb, locked it, and threw him into the Nile River

  19. Legend of Osiris (Continuation) Isis found his body and found help from Anubis and tried to resurrect him. When Seth heard about this he took his body and cut it up then scattered them all over the land of Egypt. With the power of Ahnk they restored Osiris’ body and resurrected him. Osiris and Isis ruled over the next life.
