  26. EXTENSION ANSWERS • Glycogen is the substance used to make ATP. It is made from carbohydrate that we eat in our food. It is stored in the liver & muscles. • ATP is stored in the muscles & will only for about 5-8 seconds of hard work. • Creatine phosphate will allow us to work for another 20 seconds. • The Aerobic system is slow & it takes time for oxygen to reach the muscles. During this time the lactic acid system acts as a stop gap system to allow us to work during this time. • About 1 minutes worth of hard work. • An oxygen deficit is when muscles need more oxygen than they are receiving.
