  1. Electronics in “Brave New World” By: David Peters

  2. About The Novel • The novel “Brave New World” is set in the future, and was written by Aldous Huxley. The book was originally banned from schools during its initial release in 1932. It was banned when it was first released because it is about an opposite kind of life where people lived in the future, and everything was different. For example all baby’s were made in factories, and everyone was suppose to use a drug called soma.

  3. About The Author • Aldous Huxley has written many books throughout his , as well as essay’s, and multiple short story’s. He was born on July 26 1894 in Los Angeles. Aldous Huxley has created many pieces of writing that revolve around the future, and what life might be like in the future, like the novel “A Brave New World”.

  4. Today's Electronics • Today’s electronics are getting better and better as new technology is discovered, and new inventions are created. It is interesting to think that in early times no one ever imagined that the future would be the way it is. It is so impressive how small some electronics are, and they can do so much.

  5. Pictures of Today's Electronics

  6. Electronics in Brave New World • Electronics in the novel “Brave New World” are much different than the electronics we use now a days. First off most of the electronics used in “Brave New World” are mostly to help out with life, and death in its society. For example they use many factory type electronics to help out in using Bokanovsky’s Process to duplicate embryos in the hatcheries. Another example is they use machines in the building where people stay for there final time of life, like personal TV's for each bed . In the novel they also have very fast electronically run planes that transport people around the were in a matter of seconds.

  7. Connection Between Electronics in “Brave New World” and The Earth • There are also some electronics in the novel that are similar to our electronics like hospital monitoring systems, like they use in the building where lives end. The monitoring systems they use are just like, the ones we use in our hospitals today.

  8. How Electronics Affected The Characters • Since there were so many electronics in the novel, practically every character mentioned used some sort of electronic to help in everyday task. First off Lenina is helped by machines at her job in The Central London Hatchery. They machines help move embryo’s to different stations for them to be conditioned, as well as used to condition some of them. For example ex-ray machines are used to damage the embryo’s during their development stages to determine what job the humans will become in the future, and what social category they are in. Another character that is affected by machines is Bernard Marx. First off he uses fast electronically-controlled airplanes to get around different places quickly like The savage reserve, and The Central London Hatchery.

  9. Cruel Ways Electronics were used in The Novel • Many ways society is abused by the use of machines and technology in the novel “Brave New World”. First Off When children are being conditioned they go through shock treatment to like and dislike certain things. They are also abused when the are embryo’s by getting drowned in alcohol and given multiple x-rays.

  10. Ways in which electronics can be dangerous • Electronics are very complex machines that can be hazardous if not used right. They can also malfunction causing shocks, and pain to the user. There are many stories on the news about people getting injured by machines and technology, like when the Nintendo Wii first came out people were losing control of the controller and smashing objects in their house with it on accident.

  11. How electronics protect humans in the real world • Many ways electronics can be harmful, but they are also very helpful in medical procedures, and saving lives. Some machines are very complex, like helping people breath who can’t, and monitoring the heart of patients. Some can also be very simple like measuring blood pressure.

  12. Why Electronics Are Very Important To The Novel • Electronics are very important to the novel “Brave New World” because they help describe the story, and they set the tone of the book. It helps the reader understand what society is like and how technology is such an influence in the future. They are also very important because it shows how people are treated, and how technology is now more important then the people that use it.

  13. How electronics have evolved over time in the real world • Technology has come along way since vacuum tubes, and punch cards were used for computers. At first simple electronics could be as basic as adding to numbers together to get a sum. Eventually electronics advanced to what they are today like smart phones that can do so much by themselves.

  14. Why I chose This Topic • I chose this topic because I feel that it is very important to the novel, and it explains a lot about the story, and its society. First off It helped me as I was reading it get the sense that this book is really in the future and most people don’t have many rights, because they have there lives set out for them before they are born.
