The DocuTech Features • Prints at 75, 100, 115, 135, 155 or 180 pages per minute • 3 Staple Modes (to 70 Sheets) • Portrait • Landscape • Dual • Thermal Binding (to 125 sheets, DT75 excluded) • Three paper trays - Five with an interposer • With an interposer, certain trays can be set to bypass the fuser. This is important for color inserts into documents or color covers. • Stocks 8 1/2 x 11 to 17x11 • Print driver allows for multiple paper selections • for example, Covers, Tabs and 8 1/2 x 11

  3. From your application press File and Print

  4. By pressing the down arrow select the DocuTech from the drop down window. This May be a 6100, 6115, 6135, 6155 or 6180 model printer.You also have the option between a PCL and PostScript printer driver.

  5. You can now press OK to print or Press the Properties button for more printer options.

  6. The Printer Properties are Displayed Notice the three tabs at the top of the window. The current tab is the Page Setup. The Advanced tab is for setting some advanced postscript options. The Xerox Settings tab contains all the functions and settings the printer is capable of. The Page Setup window displayed here allows you to select the default paper size of the document, the Orientation, and the paper source. The only option on this window that will be utilized is the orientation options. The Xerox Settings tab contains all the features need to create a simple to complex document.

  7. The Xerox Settings Window is Displayed Notice the window on the left hand side. It contains several icons an up and down slide bar. Currently the basic feature icon is selected. And the details are displayed on the right hand side of the Xerox Settings window.

  8. The Basic Features Here the number of copies are selected. The page Range. The job type currently is always standard.

  9. Basic Features continued… Sides Imaged Sides imaged can be 1, 2, head-to-toe and printer default. Head-to-toe prints your document like a calendar.

  10. Basic Features continued… Paper Stocks The main paper stock is set to 8.5x11 Standard-not drilled-white. To change the default paper stock press the paper stocks button.

  11. Paper Stocks Window Here the size, type, color, weight and drilled can be changed or selected. Type settings are standard, transparency, precut tab, full cut tab and custom. Standard colors can be selected or a custom color can be entered. Generally, the weight parameter should never be changed. If drilled is select, then the printer will require pre-drilled paper (ie. 3 hole)

  12. Basic Features … Finishing Notice all the Finishing options. The booklet maker is an optional attachment to the DocuTech and is not available here. Custom is also not a valid option.

  13. Basic Features … Collation Options Collation options are Collate, Uncollate or printer default. The printer default is collate.

  14. Basic Features … Job Ticket Options Job tickets can be saved by pressing save as and reloaded with the load option. The Xerox Defaults button will reset all the settings back to the original defaults. Saving job tickets is very handy for documents the get reprinted regularly and are very complex to setup.

  15. Basic Features … Preferences Press the Preferences button for some default options.

  16. Basic Features … Preferences Generally, these settings are appropriate.

  17. More Features Here, an image shift can be applied to the entire document. The destination should always be print.

  18. Job Notes Notice the job name is grayed out. If you want to change the job name go back to preferences button and change the setting. If your company is doing any kind of bill back an account number may be required. Banner messages are not applicable. Special instructions may be filled out for the operator.

  19. Exception Pages This is where special stocks can be select for different pages in your document. Tabs are also considered an exception page and can be set up here. Notice the stock button appears on this screen again. Here is where the paper stocks can be set up. The exception pages set up, will be displayed here.

  20. Exception Pages continued... The image of all the exception pages can be shifted by setting the x y axis. Notice the sides imaged. This can be a gotcha!

  21. Exception Pages continued… TABS Notice I have set paper stock 2 up as a tab. When selecting the type, the program asked me how many positions. The answer was 5. Most tabs are 5 position tabs.

  23. Exception Pages continued… Setup TABS! The tabs have been set up for my document. Notice they are on pages 5, 14, 21, 27, and 33. They are single sided even though my document is double sided and they are set to stock 2.

  24. Page Inserts Page inserts are used for inserting color pages or other stock that is not going to be printed on into your document.

  25. Page Inserts Notice that stock3 has been requested to be inserted after page 7 for a quantity of 1. Also, notice the description of stock 3. It was set up as a custom color called colorinserts.

  26. Page Inserts Once the insert entry is selected, the change, delete and undo buttons become available to make changes to the inserts.

  27. Covers Covers are similar to inserts with the exception that with covers you have total control over printing.

  28. Covers continued... Notice that there are 5 selections available. If Front and back different is selected, then all the options become available. Lets take a look at these options.

  29. Covers continued... We can choose a different paper stock for the front and back cover. Notice the stock buttons for each.

  30. Covers continued... Pressing the down arrow in the Printing box displays all the printing options. These options are available for both the front and back cover.

  32. Help Pressing the help button brings up the extensive help feature for the production job ticket..

  35. The Advanced Tab - Font Substitution If you are having problems with fonts. Chances are a font substitution is occurring. To stop the substitution and download the font: First select the TrueType Font option under Graphic. Second press the “Download as Softfont radio button.

  36. Page Layout Option The page layout option allows you to select up to sixteen images on one page. Notice the options are 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, and 16.

  37. Postscript Font Options If fonts are still an issue try setting the TrueType Font Download Option to Native TrueType or better yet to Bitmap.
