  2. Habit #1 – Be Proactive Proactive –Means to take responsibility for your actions and being the driver of your life, not the passenger. Reactive – Means act upon and be controlled by the events and behaviors of others and not your own judgment.

  3. Who’s in control of your life?Read pages 21-22

  4. Proactive People • Know what they stand for and have a strong set of values.  • Listen to their “better selves”. • Realize they have choices and take responsibility for those choices.  • Bounce back when something bad happens in their lives.  • Always look at all options.  • Focus on things they can do something about, and don’t worry about the other things.

  5. Reactive People • Allow other people or things to control them. • Allow a rude comment by a friend ruin their whole day. • Allow other’s behaviors to change their mood at the “push of a button”. • Respond to situations without taking time to consider a rational solution that aligns with their principles.

  6. On the next slide you will read several statements. • Choose 4 statements. • 2 that you believe would fit in the proactive category and 2 you believe would fit in the reactive category. • Please write them in.

  9. Scenario Activity • Each group will receive a scenario. • Discuss and fill in both a reactive and proactive way to handle the situation. • Paste your scenario in your 7 Habits booklet. • Present your scenario and group responses.
