What is GALILEO • Georgia’s Statewide Virtual Library provided by the state to K12 • Full of licensed content such as Encyclopedia Britannica, EBSCO, and SIRS products • Unique educational content from reputable sources like the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) http://www.galileo.usg.edu

  3. What is NSDL • Established by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2000 as an online library providing access for users to exemplary resources for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and research. • Provides an organized point of access to high-quality STEM content that is aggregated from a variety of other digital libraries, NSF-funded projects, and NSDL-reviewed web sites. • Provides access to services and tools that enhance the use of this content in a variety of contexts. NSDL is designed primarily for K-16 educators. • Access to most of the resources discovered through NSDL is free; however, some content providers may require a login, or a nominal fee or subscription to retrieve their specific resources. http://nsdl.org

Georgia Performance Standards • Include both skills and topics that can be addressed with content in GALILEO • Many GALILEO resources include educator resources, including links to content via the GPS curriculum, activities, and other materials. Lexile rankings. • GALILEO works with the DOE to increase the integration of GALILEO content into the GPS portal, MyGaDOE http://georgiastandards.org
