Who was St. Patrick? • St. Patrick was kidnapped when he was 16 by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave. • He believed that God told him in a dream to flee, but was later called back to Ireland to spread Christianity to the Irish. • Irish folklore tells that one of his teaching methods included using the shamrock to explain the Trinity to the Irish people. • He died on 17 March 461.

  3. St. Patrick’s Day • Did you know that the original color for St. Patrick was blue? But over the years the color changed to green, because it represented the color of the shamrock. • Green ribbons and shamrocks were worn in celebration of St Patrick's Day as early as the 17th century.
