  4. July 14 Notes • When Kathy O’Brien turned the paper cup down it meant the she did not like Steve’s answer. • Mr. Sawicki said, “Steve Harmon was an outstanding young man.”

  5. July 14 Notes • A picture of President George Washington was hanging on the right wall of the courtroom. • When evidence is tainted, that means it has been contaminated.

  6. July 14 Notes • Mrs. Petrocelli said, “Steve Harmon’s involvement in the crime was a moral decision.” • The inmates were playing dominos at the end of July 14th entry.

  7. July 17 Notes • Kathy O’Brien said they could always appeal if Steve was found guilty. • The climax of the book is when the verdict is read and Steve is found innocent.
