  1. The Friendly Letter Writing Task YOU WILL TAKE NOTES

What Do I Do? • Write a friendly letter to Mr. Markowitz (introduce yourself). • Tell him some interesting things about you. • What kind of student do you think you are? • What did you do over the summer? • Who were your previous English teachers? • What elementary school did you go to? • What are your hobbies? What do you dislike? • What is your favorite book or genre? • Write about favorite movies, music, games, etc.

  3. A Friendly Letter Must Have… • A heading (name, address, & date) • A salutation (Dear, Hello, etc.) • A body (the letter, break into paragraphs) • A closing (Thank you, Regards, etc.) • A signature (also add your class period) • THE LETTER IS HAND WRITTEN

  4. How Will I BE Graded? • Ideas • Sentences and paragraphs • Content accuracy • Grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization (conventions) • Format (heading, salutation, body, closing, signature) • TURN IN ON TIME • DUE ON OR BEFORE SEPT. 3TH
