  2. Objective • Today you will write a letter to a friend. • You will invite your friend to come over and play a game with you.

  3. In Your LetterYou Will: • Invite your friend over to your home to play a game. • Explain the game to your friend, including what is needed and how you play. • Write your letter in the friendly letter format.

  4. What Is Needed in a Friendly Letter? • Return address • Date • Greeting • Body • Closing • Signature Friendly Letter Format

  5. To Begin Writing: • Write your home address in the top right corner. • Write the date underneath your return address. • Write the greeting along the left margin, a few lines beneath the date. (Dear _____)

  6. Write the Body: Do you like to play ______ games? (insert a type of game: video games, board games, baseball games.) I enjoy a game called ______.

  7. In the Body of the Letter: • How do you play? How does the game start? How do you win? • What do you need to play? Do you need a ball, a rope, or a television to play? • How many people do you need to play? Can you play by yourself?

  8. To Finish the Body of the Letter: • At the end of the body, ask your friend one last question. • Would you like to play ________ with me? (write the name of the game you described in the letter)

  9. To Close Your Letter: • Go down a few lines after your body and in the center of the page write the closing which is Your Friend, • Underneath your closing, sign or write your name.

  10. Now You AreFinished withYour Letter!
