Facts about Egyptians • They made their own paint brushes with thick rope brush. • On the boats they had a pump line to test the depth of the water in the area that they were at. • They ate pomegranates, palm tree fruit, grapes, dates, and baboon that doesn’t have fig. • The Egyptian potters carves and sculpted cooking pots, children`s toys, storage jars, and drinking pots. • The Egyptians always took their time with things, they never rushed it.

  3. Time • There were 10 days in a week. • 3 weeks in a month. • 4 months in a season. • 3 seasons in a year. • 5 holy days.

  4. Farming • The land on either side of Egypt were great for farming. • They grew peas, beans, onions, garlic, leeks, cucumbers, grapes, melons, pomegranates, etc. • They kept cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, geese, ducks, pigeons, etc.

  5. Facts about Egypt • It was surrounded by deserts on both sides. • The sides are completely straight. • They had very narrow valleys. • The temples could be mistaken for architecture from a later time period.

Random facts • There are old, new, and middle time periods. • There were more than 1500 gods. • When the pharaoh died, he then became the protector of the dead. • The pharaoh has all power over his subjects. • They made mallets, saws, chisels, and many other useful tools. • Gold mining was a simple technology with the Egyptians. • The ancient technology was pretty simple. Papyrus is an example of this simple technology.

  7. Random facts (continued) • The Egyptians changed from copper tools to bronze tools. • 200 BC. Is when they changed from bronze tools to iron tools. • Egyptian pyramids are about 4000 years old and have few chipped blocks.

Vocabulary Words • Shaduf: is the first water lifting machine in Ancient Egypt. • Mining: The Egyptians mined gold, and that helped with trade. • Gods: The Ancient Egyptians worshipped and gave the gods gifts. • Worshipped: Honor in religious rights. • Papyrus: The Egyptians wrote on this paper like material.
