The Puritans were a significant grouping of EnglishProtestants.
  • Lived in the16th and 17th centuries.
  • They regarded the reformation of the Church of England as incomplete.
  • Wasn’t limited to English people.
  • Stripped away the traditional trappings and formalities of Christianity.

  • Puritans believed that the Bible was God’s word and law.
  • Wanted to “purify” the Church and themselves.
  • Saves only those that he deems worthy. Believed to only be a select few.
  • All are born sinful and that Jesus died for the chosen one, not everyone.
