  4. Offspring • 22 months before it is born • Babies are called calves • At birth –3.5 feet tall and weigh about 200 pounds • Covered with hair • Drinks mothers milk until 4 or 5 years old

  5. Physical Characteristics • Average male is 13.5 feet tall • Average female is 8.5 feet tall • Average weight is 13,000 pounds • Each ear weighs about 110 pounds • Small eyes • Two long teeth called tusks • Dip in back • Trunk is a very long nose and top lip joined together
