Troop Position Descriptions Scoutmaster Organization Scoutmaster - responsible for the successful Scouting career of every Scout - responsible for the successful execution of the “Trail-to” program - responsible for the safe and successful coordination by Scouts and Scouters of monthly outdoor opportunities for Scouts and Scouters - Key Measures: - ensures that that the Guide to Safe Scouting is followed both in word and spirit at all times - works with the Committee Chairman to execute the annual summer Troop Planning Meeting to determine goals, objectives, and specific plans for the following year - coaches the “Trail-to” and Patrol Advisor ASM to successfully execute the Trail-to program - coaches the SPL in managing the troop’s activities and developing its Scouts as leaders - attends the monthly PLC meeting, reports on activities, and receives information from the PLC - develops an agenda and leads a monthly Assistant Scoutmaster meeting - trains and develops a replacement Scouter Patrol Advisor Assistant Scoutmaster - responsible for the adult leadership of each Troop patrol and the success of the patrols and the Scouts in the patrols - Key Measures: - ensures that every active patrol has an active, engaged adult Patrol Advisor - provides an annual Patrol Advisor training opportunity describing the role and responsibilities of Patrol Advisors - actively monitors Patrol Advisor activities and Patrol success - coaches Patrol Advisors on the proper role and responsibilities of a Patrol Advisor - ensures that Patrol Advisors are coordinating with “Trail-to” ASM’s to ensure patrol success in each “Trail-to” program - attends the monthly Assistant Scoutmaster meeting - trains and develops a replacement Scouter

Troop Position Descriptions Scoutmaster Organization Panther Program Assistant Scoutmaster - responsible for the safe and successful execution of the annual Panther Program for newly crossed-over Scouts - Key Measures: - names an ASM to help an ASPL to develop and execute an annual late-fall Webelos Welcome Weekend - coordinates with the Scouter Training Coordinator to provide an adult experience at Webelos Welcome Weekend to introduce adults to Troop 32 - coordinates with the Scoutmaster and SPL to take applications for, and name a Panther Program ASPL each Fall - ensures that that the Panther Program ASPL names and coordinates a Scout staff for each Panther event - coordinates with the Panther ASPL to develop and execute an annual Panther Trails weekend in March - coordinates with the Scouter Training Coordinator to provide a full day of adult introduction to T32 at Panther Trails - coordinates with the Panther ASPL and Patrol Advisors to provide weekly Troop Meeting activities in support of Panther advancement - coordinates with the Panther ASPL to develop and execute a full-week Panther Camp each summer - ensures that Troop Guides for each Panther patrol are active with their patrols after Panther Camp - provides regular reports on progress and success to the Scoutmaster and ASM Committee - attends the monthly Assistant Scoutmaster meeting - trains and develops a replacement Scouter Trail to First Class Assistant Scoutmaster - responsible for the advancement of Panther Scouts to the First Class rank - Key Measures: - determines the names, numbers, and status at all times of all Scouts below First Class rank - establishes a relationship and rapport with all Scouts below First Class rank - ensures that the SPL appoints a Trail to First Class ASPL after each SPL election - coordinates with the Panther Program ASM and ASPL to ensure that that the maximum amount of First Class requirements are completed at Panther Trails and/or Panther Camp - coordinates with the ASPL to offer programs, outings, Merit Badges, training, etc. to allow rank advancement to First Class - coordinates with the ASPL to ensure all transfer-in Scouts attain First Class rank within 1 year of joining the Troop - coordinates with the ASPL to ensure all Panther Scouts attain First Class rank within 1 year of crossover - attends the monthly Assistant Scoutmaster meeting - trains and develops a replacement Scouter

Troop Position Descriptions Scoutmaster Organization Trail to Life Assistant Scoutmaster - responsible for the advancement of First Class Scouts to the Life rank - Key Measures: - determines the names, numbers, and status at all times of all Scouts attempting to attain the Life rank - establishes a relationship and rapport with all Scouts attempting to attain the Life rank - ensures that the SPL appoints a Trail to Life ASPL after each SPL election - coordinates with the ASPL to offer programs, outings, Merit Badges, training, etc. to allow rank advancement to the Life rank - coordinates with the ASPL to ensure all transfer-in Scouts attain Life rank - coordinates with the ASPL to monitor and ensure that all First Class Scouts attain Life rank - attends the monthly Assistant Scoutmaster meeting - trains and develops a replacement Scouter Trail to Eagle Assistant Scoutmaster - responsible for the advancement of Life Scouts to the Eagle rank - Key Measures: - determines the names, numbers, and status at all times of all Scouts attempting to attain the Eagle rank - maintains a network of ASM Eagle Coaches that are available and assigned to individual Scouts to mentor the Scout on his journey to Eagle - establishes a relationship and rapport with all Scouts attempting to attain the Eagle rank - ensures that the SPL appoints a Trail to Eagle ASPL after each SPL election - coordinates with the ASPL to offer programs, outings, Merit Badges, training, etc. to allow rank advancement to the Eagle rank - coordinates with the ASPL to ensure all transfer-in Scouts attain Eagle rank - coordinates with the ASPL to monitor and ensure that all Life Scouts attain the Eagle rank - attends the monthly Assistant Scoutmaster meeting - trains and develops a replacement Scouter
