  2. November 14, 2011 Students will: • Engage in outdoor games, scavenger hunts, and map activities • Sail on a working fishing boat to dredge for oysters and fish using an otter net • Canoe and explore the marsh on Black Walnut Creek

  3. The Day’s Schedule • 8:10 Depart St. Mark School • 9:00 Arrive at Philip Merrill Center in Annapolis • 9:00-3:00 Activities for the day • 4:00 Arrive St. Mark School

  4. The Philip Merrill Center • Headquarters for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation • All materials are made of recycled products or created through processes that don't damage the environment. The Merrill Center is the first building to receive the U.S. Green Building Council's Platinum rating for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

  5. An Interactive Journey • The Merrill Center is an interactive model that educates and inspires people, including hundreds of businesses, organizations, and government agencies. It is extremely cost effective and operates in harmony with the land, natural resources, and the Chesapeake Bay, proving that "green" buildings work. Our facility also proves that it isn't necessary to lose comfort or beauty to build responsibly.

  6. Explore the Center and grounds through games and scavenger hunts.

  7. Dredge for Oysters and use an otter net to collect biotic samples.

  8. Explore the Chesapeake Bay!

  9. Study the Bay through maps.

  10. Explore Black Walnut Creek and its marsh by canoe.

  11. Use a seine to collect biotic samples.

  12. Set new fashion trends!

  13. Learn and have fun with nature.
