Housekeeping Items • Premiere of a film on the Nanaimo River (“Voices of the River”) on Friday night (see poster). • Outlines for assignments are due a week from today. • The best guess for when the first billion was achieved is 1804. • We were talking last time about the declining health status of people under the age of 20. In addition to diet and spending too much time indoors, there is also the fact that – because of sprawl and perceived fears of crime – children do not walk or bike as much as they used and tend to be driven everywhere. • Today we finish off the population slides, and I’ll show you parts of a video, World in the Balance, that makes some of the same points quite vividly.
