  1. Welcome to Open House!Mr. Wayman (C-2) French 3/5/6 Honors Spanish 3 Honors

  2. Course Objective: To further the students’ understanding of the French / Spanish language, and the cultures of French / Spanish-speaking peoples throughout the world--- and to increase proficiency through practice in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension of the target language.

  3. Course Requirements: • French 3  Discovering French Blanc • French 5/6  Discovering French Rouge • Spanish  Exprésate Blue • Note: We have class sets of these. Students do not need to bring their issued books with them to class.

Note about tutoring / re-testing: For those who are really “trying” and are “just not getting it”, I will make myself available after school (by appointment)—and tutoring may be provided during lunch by advanced Spanish / French students (levels 4-6) from the Spanish National Honor Society / FNHS. Our volunteer coordinator, Miss Wilson, may also be able to set up a tutor with a community volunteer, if available. (wilsona@pcsb.org) Students may re-assess, but they have to do correctives first.

  7. Note about grades: It is expected that both students and parents check Focus regularly—to monitor student progress. Grades are updated weekly. My grading *categories: - Homework & Class work (Participation) 25% - Speaking quizzes 25% - Written quizzes 25% - Chapter Tests 25% **Note: All will be color-coded in Focus.

  8. Note about school-wide discipline focus: Please talk to your kids about making sure they: Follow the school dress code and electronics policies. Are on time to class (new tardy policy) Are self-responsible (following procedures and policies, getting makeup work, etc.)

  9. Note about donations: Tissues, paper towels, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes (for lab), low odor dry-erase markers, and air spray cans are appreciated. HAVE STUDENTS BRING IN DONATED ITEMS. Checks are accepted (no cash)—made out to SHS “donation to Mr. Wayman’s class.”
