  2. Georgia Studies Lesson PlansApril 9, 2012 OPENING: Interactive Notebook answer the following: Describe three of the events that made a difference in Georgia progress during the 1920’s. EQ: What are some of the events that happened in Georgia during the 1920’s? GPS:SS8H8- The student will analyze the important events that occurred after World War I and their impact on Georgia . SS8H9- The student will describe the impact of World war II on Georgia’s development economically, socially, and politically. WORK SESSION: Progressive to Depression Georgia Studies Open Book Test ( Use Chapters 10 and 11) Looking Ahead: Directed Reading “Are We There Yet?” CLOSING: Write words for the next Unit: Modern Georgia HOMEWORK: Define words for the next unit.

EQ:How would you describe light as an electromagnet wave? GPS:S8P4 Student will explore the wave nature of sound and electromagnetic radiation. a. Identify the characteristics of electromagnetic and mechanical waves. a. Identify the characteristics of electromagnetic and mechanical waves. d. describe how behavior of waves is affected by medium( such as air, water, solids) Student will recognize characteristics of gravity, electricity, and magnetism as major kinds of forces acting in nature. WORK SESSION: Review “Properties and Interaction of Waves”  What is light? The Electromagnetic Spectrum; Interactions of Light; Waves Light and Color-Notes , Demo, and Discussion CRCT Review- Practice from the Coach Book. CLOSING: In your Interactive Notebook answer the following question: Why is it important that Electromagnetic Waves can travel through empty space? HOMEWORK: Complete and submit all missing work.

SS8H12 The student will explain the importance of significant social, economic, and political developments in Georgia since 1970. SS8G1 The student will describe Georgia with regard to physical features and location. SS8E3 The student will evaluate the influence of Georgia’s economic growth and development. WORK SESSION: Introduction to Modern Georgia: Georgia Stories: “No MTV? Georgia Culture, Early 20th Century” The Postwar Period and Georgia After World War II. Power Point Notes and Discussion Activity: Georgia’s Governors and Their Accomplishments CLOSING: Give two important facts about each of the five governors discussed in the section from today’s lesson. HOMEWORK: Complete any missing assignments that you have out for Georgia Studies

CLOSING: Use the following terms to create a concept map: sound waves, pitch, loudness, decibels, frequency, amplitude, oscilloscope, hertz and interference. HOMEWORK: Complete and submit all missing work.

How would you feel? What would you do to change that? Would that be considered to be fair? EQ: What advances were made in civil rights during the postwar period? WORK SESSION: The Civil Rights Movement- Power Point Notes/Discussion Complete on a sheet of paper the It’s Your Turn Questions from page 450 (1-5). Activity: Who Am I? CLOSING: Explain the one-person, one-vote concept. What bill did the march from Selma to Montgomery influence Congress to pass? HOMEWORK: Complete any work you have missing for Georgia Studies
