  4. André Rieu, conocido como el rey del Vals, ha popularizado este género musical y muchas piezas clásicas entre el público joven. Nacido en Maastricht, el 1 de Octubre de 1949, fundó su propia orquesta, con el nombre neerlandés de Johann Strauss Orkest en 1987. Este violinista y director de orquesta holandés, ha tenido la virtud de difundir la música clásica que otrora parecía reservada a las clases de élite, poniéndola al servicio de un público joven y en aquellos lugares que dichos jóvenes suelen frecuentar, tales como plazas públicas, estadios deportivos u otros, bien sea de ocio o culturales. Se siente muy enraizado en Maastricht de donde es igualmente su mujer, habiendo nacido sus dos hijos allí.
