JOUSTING CHALLENGE The Jousting Knights(Table of Contents) KNIGHTS 8” tall, Aluminum, maximum & minimum lance height lines, magnetically held to base plate LANCES Adjustable height and length; flat head screw controlled metal clamp around Knight BASE PLATE Circular metal plate, Velcro attached Lego plate and 4 Lego beams

JOUSTING CHALLENGE Eligibility & Description (Table of Contents) • ELIGIBLE: Elementary (ES) and Middle school (MS) divisions • Only 60 teams accepted: 30 teams per each division Jousting Challenge is two robots travelling in opposite directions along parallel lines carrying one of the official RED or GREEN Knights in front of the robot. OBJECTIVE: Knock your opponent’s knight to the floor using your lance before your knight is knocked off.

JOUSTING CHALLENGE Required Materials & Rules (Table of Contents) • OFFICIAL Red & Green Knights ONLY: Jousting Knight set includes Knight’s bases and lances for 2 knights • Robot platform: no restrictions provided total value under $1500 • Light sensor(s): For track’s 1” wide black line • Lance: Cork tip is required on the leading end of the lance • Lance: metal clamp may NOT be above or below the white lines on the Knight’s boday

JOUSTING CHALLENGE Required Materials & Rules (Table of Contents) • Robot width:5” or less measured from track’s black line • Base plate: maximum of 4” forward of the robot body measuring to the back point of the plate • Base plate height: plate itself may not exceed 4” off the floor • Magnetic attachment: no other magnets than the type provided in the Jousting Kit are permitted

JOUSTING CHALLENGE Registration Cost & Day of Event Information (Table of Contents) • Jan. 31, 2013: $50/robot Late: Feb. 1- Apr. 1: $100/robot • May 3rd 12:00p to 8:00p Roboquerque Convention Center Workshops and practice available: 12:00p – 5:00p Ice Cream Social: 5:30p – 8:00p FAST BOT competition: 7:00p • May 4th 8:00a – 4:30p Opening Remarks: 8:00a Competition: 8:30a Single elimination tournament: 1:00p – 2:30p

ROBORAVE INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGES Jousting Challenge NEW Top 8 ES & 8 MS teams in PM tournament (Table of Contents) SCORING: The Knight that knocks the other Knight to the floor FIRST can earn either 50, 100, or 150 points. Higher scores depend on how close to the other Knight’s starting line you are when you knock them off. • If both Knights are knocked off, then the 2nd Knight to the floor WINS • If neither Knight is NOT knocked off, then RE-RUN one knight WINS TRACKS: Two 4 foot long parallel 1” black lines spaced 10” apart. Note: score areas of 100 and 150, 12” and 6” from opponent’s starting area see track design
