  2. IN CHAPTER ONE… • They were chosen • Born again to a living hope • Protected by faith • Believing, loving, and rejoicing without seeing Him • Redeemed • Purified

  3. v.4- COME TO HIM Strongs… to approach, visit, assent to Thayers… to attach one’s self to Christ to come to a participation in the the benefits procured

  4. WHAT ARE WE ATTACHING TO? • A “LIVING” STONE • A “CHOICE” STONE, PICKED • A “PRECIOUS” STONE • ONE WHO WAS PERSECUTED

  5. BY BEING ATTACHED… These “sacrifices” are “spiritual” in nature We “also” are… • Picked • Precious, and • Persecuted

  6. 2 Thessalonians 1:6-7 For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,7. and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire,

  7. Ephesians 2:20-22 …having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, 21. in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22. in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

  8. MEN ARE GIVEN A CHOICE • V.6- believers will not be disappointed • V.7-8- disbeliever stumbles instead of builds “Stumble” because they are disobedient. They have chosen “doom”, i.e. it is laid out.

  9. HOW DOES GOD VIEW THIS “ATTCHMENT”? • PICKED • PRIESTS • PURE • PROPERTY

  10. Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

  11. HOW DOES GOD VIEW THIS “ATTCHMENT”? • PICKED • PRIESTS • PURE • PROPERTY • PURPOSED • PEOPLE OF MERCY

  12. TO CONFESS FAITH IN CHRST AND ACCEPT JESUS IN OBEDIENCE IS TO “ATTACH” ONE’S SELF TO HIM AND BECOME LIKE HIM.
