  1. Space Tower Project By: Jeremiah Oghafua

  2. Defining a Problem The problem that I was trying to get solved in the project was: -Constructing a space tower out of three sticks of balsa wood. - Using a a little amount of green glue.

  3. Brainstorming Before I could construct the model, I brainstormed possible space tower designs and pondered which designs I could use. I also thought about how I could make a design that was similar to the designs that I looked up online.

  4. Researching and Generating Ideas For research, I looked at pictures of towers. The towers were also made from balsa wood.

  5. Identifying Criteria and Specifying Constraints • The criteria of the tower was that it had to be: • 27 CM TALL • A BASE WITH A WIDTH OF AT LEAST 8 CM • A TOP WITH A WIDTH THAT IS AT LEAST 3 CM LESS WIDE THAN THEBOTTOM BASE • THE MEMBERS MUST BE GLUED WITH GREEN GLUE

  6. Exploring Possibilities As I looked into the design, I used several sketches

  7. Selecting an Approach I decided to go ahead and construct the tower according to the design on the far bottom left side of the sketch paper.

  8. Developing a Design Proposal For designing the tower, I used the sketch as a design proposal.

  9. Making a Model or Prototype The prototype of the bridge was built with a set of balsa wood sticks apart from my main supply of materials. The prototype turned out to be crooked and off center as I built it. The use of glue was excessive to ensure that the tower was well sustained.

  10. Refine the Design The prototype was refurbished of its rough members and glued more efficently.

  11. Create it This the finished product of the construction.

  12. Communicate Results The construction of the tower was a success.
