  2. The Start • The beginning of Dallas’ drop in the performance, was the injury of Tony Romo in the early start of the season. He was benched for the rest of the season with a broken collarbone.

  3. The firing of Wade Phillips • The thing that really kicked off Dallas’ comeback was the firing of their former head coach Wade Phillips. After Phillips was fired by Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones, Dallas won 2 straight games under the direction of interim head coach, Jason Garrett.

  4. The hiring of Jason Garrett • After Phillips was fired, Jerry Jones named Jason Garrett interim head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Naturally, Jason stepped up and took over Phillips’ job. With the 2 straight wins in a row, the head coaching job for Garrett looked promising. And sure enough, right after the end of the regular season, Jerry Jones named Jason Garrett the new Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
