Conclusions for Microtubules:

  • Largest of the cytoskeletal filaments
  • / tubulin heterodimers are organized into

protofilaments that align laterally to make a

cylinder or tube-like structure

  • MTs display intrinsic polarity with the (+)-end

being the faster growing end

  • Many MTs are organized in cells wrt to the
  • MTOC/Basal Body
  • MTs facilitate cargo transport via the action

of molecular motors (kinesins, dyneins etc.)
