  2. About Long Term Care When a person requires someone else to help him with his physical or personal care needs during a period of time, this is long-term care. Long-term care includes variety of services which may meet both medical and non-medical needs of people.

Who Needs Long Term Care • About 70 percent of people over age 65 need some type of long-term care • during their lifetime. • More than 40 percent need care in a nursing home for some period of • time. • It is estimated that 6 out of 10 people will need long term care sometime • during their lifetime.
