  5. Number Resource • Background • IDA projected initially that number resource would be depleted in 2005 • Due to increased numbering demand as a result of the full liberalisation of telecommunication market after Apr 2000, the 8-digit Numbering Plan implementation was brought forward from 2004 to 1 Mar 2002 © IDA Singapore 2001 www.ida.gov.sg 5

  41. UK’s Migration • Highlights of UK CPE implications • Fax machines • Fax machine’s ID number and quick dial memory must be re-programmed © IDA Singapore 2001 www.ida.gov.sg 41

  42. UK’s Migration • Highlights of UK CPE implications • Switches/ISDN routers • Some may need new telephone numbers to be re-programmed • Due to the large numbers stored, it is likely to be done by a maintenance engineer © IDA Singapore 2001 www.ida.gov.sg 42

  43. Conclusion (CPE Suppliers) • By 1 Dec 2001, CPE suppliers should identify non-8 digit compliant equipment • Between 1 Jan 2002 to 31 Mar 2001, CPE suppliers should re-program and test equipment • By 31 Mar 2001, CPE suppliers should complete re-programing and testing © IDA Singapore 2001 www.ida.gov.sg 43
