  1. Amazing Tricks to Increase the Battery Life of an Electric Car When you are thinking of buying an Electric car, it is perfectly normal to be concerned about the lifetime of the batteries. However, it is totally based on how you maintain them. With a careful planning and management, you can make them last for many years. Check out the tips given here to increase the lifetime of the batteries in your electric car, Do not charge them to their maximum capacity You might think that plugging them to an electric car charger until they reach their maximum capacity would allow you to make the most out of a single sitting. But unfortunately, this practice would drain the lifespan of the battery. Make them last longer by unplugging the car from the charging station when they reach about 80% of the charging limit. An added advantage of this procedure is by leaving some space you can let regenerative braking to store energy. Otherwise, it would be disabled to prevent overcharging the batteries. Do not discharge the battery deeply Deep discharging would excessively wear out the batteries. Plan your trips promptly and make sure that you reach your destination with some charge to spare. It might be tempting to test the full range of your electric car. But resist yourself from emptying the battery completely as it could reduce its lifetime.

  2. Consider buying a portable charger Most people would prefer to permanently install a charging station at home. But this can be inconvenient when you move around a lot, often leading you to overcharge your batteries. As mentioned above, this is not a wise move. Therefore, consider buying a portable car charging station so that you can charge your batteries any time you want. Protect your vehicle against extreme weather conditions You could have bought an electric car that features thermal management. Though it might keep your batteries comfortable in a hot surrounding, running it continuously would drain the charge. You can shut it down, but then the heat exposure would affect the batteries. Hence, try to park your car under a shady region when it is hot and keep it in your garage during winter. You can also plug in as long as possible so that you can maintain the thermal system without emptying the battery. Make preparations for extended storage Certain electric cars come with a “storagemode”. You can simply turn it on and it would automatically take care of your batteries. If your car doesn’t have this feature, charge the batteries up to 60% before placing it in the storage. They will self-discharge over time and could crouch down to 20% within weeks. Then recharge them once again back to 60% after a period of time. Above all, do not fail to follow the instructions given by the manufacturer at any cost.
