TERMS IN POETRY. TERMS IN POETRY. Form : the way a poem looks on the page; its shape. Lines: Poets arrange words into lines. The lines may or may not be sentences. Stanzas: group of lines in traditional poetry.
a.) Simile: a comparison of two things using the words like or as. Ex: Confetti fell like rain.
b.) Metaphor: a comparison of two things without the words like or as. Ex: His face is a puzzle.
c. )Personification: a description of an animal or an object as if it were human or had human qualities. Ex: The dog smiled joyfully.
