  2. Visual Arts Standards: • 2.1 Solve a visual arts problem that involves the effective use of the elements of art and the principles of design. • 2.4 Develop and refine observational drawing skills.

  3. Artist of Inspiration: Alexander Calder (the mobile guy!)

  4. Vocabulary: • Contour line = one long, continuous line that is used to describe a form

  5. Vocabulary: • Portraiture = a likeness of a person, especially of the face, as a painting, drawing, photograph or sculpture

  7. Materials: 18-gauge stovepipe wire (approx. 8' per student), assorted colored scrap wire or string

  8. Objectives:

  9. Project Requirements: Based on one of your contour portrait drawings Head and features are 3-D – not flat! Approximately life size with correct placement and proportion of features

  10. Project Requirements: Must have a nose with nostrils, a mouth, 2 eyes, and ears or hair (may also have eye brows, moustache, etc.) Well-constructed(wire stays in place, not loose, no ends sticking out)

  12. Due Dates: • Minimum 12 contour line drawings: Thursday 3/14 • Worth 20 points • I will check these on Friday when I check sketchbooks, but they should be done before you get wire! • Project complete: Monday 3/18 (at end of class)
