  1. PROPOSED REPAIRS • TO LAKE G SHORELINE AND HISTORY • To assist you in knowing the locations of the lakes, I am showing you a map of the lakes.

  2. In 2002, there were major failures to a portion of the shoreline of Lake D. The shoreline was repaired by the developer, but the repairs were paid by the POA ($12,000). Those repairs consisted of laying a woven mat and bringing in dirt and sod. • In 2004, the headwalls and culverts along with one area of the previously repaired shoreline of Lake D were repaired by the POA.

  3. In 2008, all the shoreline of Lake D • that is owned by the POA was rip- rapped at a cost of $52,000. This included rip-rapping (laying stone) along 900 feet of shoreline, laying fabric, and then laying sod. We had full cooperation of the residents, and some helped to water the sod. The price per lineal foot was $57.00.

  4. In 2007, the POA repaired the shoreline of Lake A, the large lake. These repairs consisted of bringing in dirt, leveling, and laying sod. That cost was $53,000 for 4500 feet of shoreline. Rip-rap was not considered for the shoreline as the cost would have been $230,000. • Previously we had reinforced the nine headwalls by installing rip-rap below, on top, and on the sides. After inspecting the remaining shorelines this spring, Lake G has suffered significant erosion. ( Photos)

  5. We own 600 feet of shoreline. The only permanent type of repairs to the headwalls and shorelines is to lay fabric and bring in stone (rip-rapping). The headwalls need attention now, and the shoreline will slowly continue to erode. When Lake D was done, the cost was $53 per foot.

  6. We have a bid to do Lake G at $43 per foot which includes laying the sod. This lower cost is due to the lack of construction in SW Florida. This bid is by Abbott Construction, the same company that was the low bidder on Lake A and D. Their performance has been superior, and we are familiar with their organization and supervisors. They also have the proper rubber track equipment and hopper.

  7. Using the hopper prevents damage to our roads as the stone is dumped into the hopper and then delivered to the shoreline using a rubber track bobcat. The entry point will be the concrete golf cart path. Abbott’s price is $23,100. The specifications are to install fabric around the shoreline and bring in 170 tons (340,000) pounds of stone, approximately 6 to 12 inch in diameter. The sod will be contracted out to a separate vendor at an approximate cost of $4000.

  8. The total price for the project is $27,000. It would be funded by using money from our “other lakes reserve account.” This expenditure will not result in any increase of our monthly assessments, and the life of Lake G’s Shoreline will be extended. • Bill Murphy, our new chair for the Maintenance/Lakes & Roads Committee, agrees we should proceed with this project considering the amount of erosion and attractive pricing available at this time.

  9. We will require volunteers to monitor traffic, the golf course golf path, the construction phase, and watering the sod. We will use some of our volunteers experienced in the previous shoreline projects to help us monitor the project. They are Bill Ambrose, Fred Eyrich, Joe Ring, Claude Crass, Linda& Jay Huber, Fred Thomasson and Bob Toth. Bill Murphy and members of the lakes& Roads committee will also assist.

  10. George Anderer will again be our professional photographer and will make a disc similar to the other lake projects. These discs also are a good reference point for future boards to review when other lake shorelines need repairing. • We have 14 homes surrounding the common area shoreline, and we will meet with those owners present to explain the project. We need them to assist with watering the sod until we get some rain.

  11. If approved, the project will take one week to complete and would probably start in early June. • I am requesting the board to approve the Shoreline Project to Lake G in the amount not to exceed $27,000. We will need a motion and discussion by the board. Then residents can ask questions and give their input.
