  2. Wave Energy • Wind makes ripples which make waves. • The bigger the wave the more dramatic a shore erodes. • When a wave hits a rock several times in a row, it keeps breaking down until it is sand. • When a wave breaks, the bottom of the wave drags, and erodes the bottom of the ocean.

  3. Wave Erosion • Waves in the ocean and other large bodies of water produce coastal erosions. • Large storm waves can produce 2000 pounds of pressure per square ft. • The pure energy of waves along with the chemicals content of the water is what erodes the coastline.

  4. Wave Deposits • Waves carry materials like sand, rock fragments, dead coral, and shells. • Some of these materials wash up on shore where it forms a beach.
