  1. Does trimming your cuticles have an effect on what nail polish lasts the longest?

  2. Problem • I need to determine if trimming your cuticles has an effect on what finger nail polish will last longer. Either when I only apply protection coat or when I trim the cuticles and also apply protection coat?

  3. Hypothesis • I predict that the polish will last longer when I trim the girls cuticles. Your cuticles are the ones that are eating the polish and things on your nails away.

  4. Materials • 3 girls. • 5 brands of finger nail polish • Clip board • Finger nail polish remover • Cuticle trimmer, cuticle oil, and a nail file!

  5. Procedure • First I will get 3 girls • The first week I will just apply polish and protection coat to 3 girls. • At the end of the week I will determine what polish lasts the longest. Then I will record what they did that week to see if that has an effect on how long the polish lasts. • The 2nd week I will apply the same brands of polish with protection but I will also trim their cuticles. • At the end of the week I will determine what polish lasts the longest. I will then record what they did that week to see if trimming their cuticles has effect on how long the polish lasts. • Then I will put all my information together and finish my science fair project.

  7. Conclusion • My hypothesis wasthat the fingernail polish would last longer when I cut the cuticles, because your cuticles are the things that eat the polish away. My hypothesis was right the finger nail polish stayed on longer with trimmed cuticles. Some errors in my experiment were the girls did some activities that were hard on their nails so it made them chip probably more than they would have if they weren’t so hard on them.
