  2. Review of Implementation of MDMS in Andhra Pradesh (Primary + Upper Primary)(1.4.2017 to 31.03.2018) Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

Best Practices • State is providing egg / banana thrice a week. • Coverage of children of class IX and X under mid day meal from State resources • Funds are released directly to implementing agencies from State through e-transfer. • 18376 schools have water filtration facility. • E-POS system is adopted for placing of indent and supply of rice to the schools.

  4. Issues • Slow pace of construction of kitchen-cum-stores, Construction is yet to start for 6028 Kitchen-cum-stores. • 47925 Kitchen devises sanctioned as replacement during 2012-13, the same are yet to be procured. • Information on budget provision (State share) for 19523 kitchen-cum-stores, which the State has proposed for re-sanctioning is pending. • Mismatch in MDM-MIS and AWP&B data especially for Foodgrain and cooking cost utilisation. • Serving of meals during drought.

  5. Innovations etc. • It is proposed that the States and UTs may also be given flexibility to utilize, with prior approval of MHRD, 5% of their Annual Work Plan & Budget for new interventions provided they are not included under any of the Central or State Schemes and there is no overlapping of activities. This is subject to CCEA approval. • Some of the suggested innovation may be in the field of Water filters, kitchen gardens, provision of LPG connections, use of millets etc. These are only illustrative and not exhaustive. • Community participation. • Meetings of District committee headed by Dist. Collector.
